PBHS athletes receive post-season honors
Three Peabody-Burns High School winter athletes this past week earned Heart of America League recognition.
Jessi Hilliard was named first-team all-league on the girls' side, and Derek Benson and Derrick Simmonds were named second-team all-league for the boys' team.
Hilliard, a junior, shot 34 percent from the field and averaged 17.8 points per game. She also averaged nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals per game. She is the daughter of Gary and Brenda Hilliard of Peabody.
Benson, a senior, shot 58 percent from field for 13.3 points per game. He also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded two blocks per game. He is the son of Mike and Lana Benson of Peabody.
The junior Simmonds nailed 52 percent of his shots for an average of 14.6 points per game. He was 34 percent from behind the three-point arc and 70 percent from the free-throw line. He averaged 2.3 steals and two assists per game. He is the son of Brian and Sheryl Simmonds of Peabody.
