PBHS athletes receive post season honors

Athletes in three sports at Peabody-Burns High School have received recognition for individual achievements during the 2004 fall sports season.

In cross country, sophomore Andrew Topham received an eighth place medal at the state meet with a time of 17:32 for the 5K course. Senior Tiana McGee earned an 18th place medal at state with a time of 13:40 in the two-mile run.

In volleyball, Kali Alstrom, a junior setter, made all-league honorable mention team on the Heart of America volleyball team.

Nine Warrior football players were recognized for post season honors in the HOA league. Eight seniors and one junior were on the list.

Mario Nava garnered three first team awards including a unanimously selection for return specialist. Nava also made first team running back and linebacker. He had 99 tackles and three sacks. He rushed for 1,091 yards and 12 touchdowns. He returned 25 punts for 159 yards and one touchdown. He also returned 14 kick-offs for 251 yards and a touchdown.

Brandon Crabtree was a first team all-league defensive lineman and also was selected first-team offensive lineman. His stats included 87 tackles and eight sacks.

Micah Hilliard, a junior, was a unanimous first team selection for defensive back. He had 59 tackles and 11 interceptions.

Isaiah Eldridge was selected to first team offensive lineman and honorable mention defensive lineman. He had 61 tackles and 12 sacks.

Kurt Philips made honorable mention running back. He had 835 yards and seven touchdowns.

Brian Baker made honorable mention team punter with 34 punts for 1049 yards.

James Morris was named honorable mention offensive lineman.

Jonathan Foth was named honorable mention defensive back. He had 11 pass break-ups and 45 tackles.

Ryan Gaines made honorable mention linebacker. He had 88 tackles, two sacks, and one interception.
