Pat Wood honored by historical society

Christmas Through the Decades scheduled for

evenings of Nov. 29-30

Peabody Historical Society is dedicating its 2002 historic walk to Pat Wood, local veteran performer in many historical society projects.

Wood is battling serious illness, but hopes to be on hand to "at least turn the pages in the songbook" as the father-daughter duo of Bennie Holtsclaw and Carol Grosse sing Christmas carols around the "campfire" while waiting on the big gusher to come in.

Janet Hamous has rounded up some genuine "hippies" of the 1960s to entertain the public plus a few other well-known celebrities of the era. These performers will be at Peabody Hardware.

A real surprise is planned for the 1970s which will include one of Fred Rowe's favorite songs!

Tammi Yoder is working on a special window to commemorate the events on 9/11 and to honor Peabody's "everyday heroes." Stay tuned for more details on this scene.

Christmas Through the Decades tour tickets will be available in the basement of Carnegie Library the evenings of the performances, Nov. 29 and 30, beginning at 6 p.m. Special times may be reserved by calling Muriel Wolfersperger at 1-620-983-2193.

Guides will lead groups of about 12 people for each tour.

The Carnegie Library board will again be serving refreshments to guests in the library following the tours. Ensembles from the Peabody Community Band will provide music for guests to enjoy at this time.
