Partnerships are growing

Look up in the sky . . . it's a bird, it's a plane, NO it's the newly painted Peabody water tower.

After several weeks of sandblasting the Peabody water tower has been painted a lovely shade of blue. The new look is the addition of the "1880s Main Street" lettering on the globe and the familiar "Warriors" lettering down the stem.

The cost of the extra lettering was not budgeted by the City. Peabody State Bank has generously donated half the cost of the combined lettering with the provisions that Peabody Main Street Association and USD #398 work together to raise the other half. Both the school district and Main Street were excited about the opportunity and have formed the Water Tower Project Committee co-chaired by Ray Savage and myself.

The first fund-raiser will be at 4:30 p.m Dec. 14 at the Peabody-Burns basketball game. The committee will be running the concession stand for the game and all food sales will go toward the water tower project. Donations will also be accepted. Come and eat a great meal and watch the Warriors play Canton-Galva!

The partnership between USD #398 and Main Street is exciting and all those involved are looking forward to other projects and events that will benefit the community.
