Parlez-vous graves desecration?
Well, here is a little international tidbit that I haven't seen reported in any of the local daily papers, so I think it is my duty to let you know about it. We want to be up on worldwide events, don't we?
French president Jacques Chirac sent a letter to Queen Elizabeth II of England last week apologizing for his countrymen. It seems that French citizens defaced the graves of British soldiers who died during WWII, fighting for the liberation of the French from the occupying Nazi forces. What a guy! Great that he apologized. He, of course, had nothing to do with the actions of the citizens of his country. Right.
One message scribbled on a cross said, "Get your rubbish out of here. You are contaminating our soil."
Are you incensed? I am.
