Park vandalism may restrict access

Peabody public works director Darren Pickens has reported vandalism at the rest rooms near the sports complex at city park.

"Someone burned a full roll of toilet paper in the sink of the men's room," said Pickens. "Another was set on fire on the floor.

"If we continue to have problems like this we will just lock the rest rooms except for those times when there are ball tournaments or an event like the Fourth of July or something," he added.

With summer activities gearing up and ball games, swimming, and family activities at the park, the city staff would like to keep the rest rooms open for public use.

"But experience tells me this is just the first of many attacks on city property," said Pickens.

Anyone with information about who vandalized the park rest room may call the city building at 983-2174 or the police department at 983-2133.
