Operation Celebration is this weekend
Events for the Memorial Day weekend to honor veterans and catch a glimpse of World War II have just about been finalized according to Peabody Main Street interim director Shane Marler.
"We could use a few more parade entries and a few more volunteers to help with the flag display," he said. "But other than that, I think we are ready to go."
Marler just received notice from the Pentagon that Peabody has been approved for a fly-over shortly after the parade starts.
"I have to warn you they DID issue a disclaimer that the fly-over would be canceled if there is an outbreak of war," Marler said. "But we are scheduled to have a KC-135 tanker going overhead if all is right with the world."
