Open house Sept. 18 to mark Nightengales 50th anniversary years ago

Don and Twylah Nightengale of Florence will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at Burns Community Center, Burns.

The event is hosted by their children, Peggy and Doug Leitzen of Marengo, Ill., Janet and Bud Turner of Eureka, and Carol Nightengale of Topeka; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Don Nightengale and Twylah Schmidt were married Sept. 20, 1955, at First Mennonite Church, Burns.

He is a retired farmer and currently is a self-employed oilfield technician. She retired in 1999 from Florence Health Care as food service supervisor and currently is employed part-time at Brenda's Bloomers and Gifts in Marion.

The couple requests no gifts.
