One-of-a-kind goodies available at auction
Framed stain glass window
There originally were four stained glass windows in the balcony skylight of the former high school auditorium. No one really knew they were there until school officials began investigating the closure of the balcony to make it into a storage area.
One of the windows had been severely damaged and boarded over.
Muriel Wolfersperger, then board clerk, oversaw the restoration of the remaining three pieces, which were removed carefully.
Fran Arnett framed two of them to hang in the west windows of the central office. The third one sat in an office storage area, carefully padded and taped.
When Muriel retired, Fran framed the extra window and it was given to her from the board and staff of Peabody schools.
The glass is available for viewing at Peabody State Bank.
Wooden replica of hoe
A wooden replica of Middlecreek Mining track-hoe hand-crafted by Mark Whitney, owner of Peabody Hardware and Lumber, truly is a one-of-a-kind piece and is an intricate result of woodworking skill and craftsmanship.
You may remember Mark's contribution to the 2003 auction, a hand-crafted wooden fire truck.
Mark has had years of experience making wooden toys for friends and family and uses his skills for special projects for Peabody Hardware customers like the beautiful Victorian screen doors found at the store. The replica is on display for viewing at Peabody Hardware and Lumber.
