One county case not the mumps

One of the suspected mumps cases in Marion County has been determined not to be mumps.

According to Marion County Public Health Administrator Diedre Serene, the lab work for one of the suspect cases came back negative.

Serene said it will be a week or two before lab work will be completed for the other case(s).

As of May 17, Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported a total of 639 probable or confirmed mumps cases in 63 counties.
