Old books available to Peabody library patrons
Peabody Township Library has weeded out some old books which could possibly fill an eclectic shelf of collectibles, supplement an avid interest, or instigate a new curiosity.
Some of the non-fiction discarded library editions have copyright dates pre-1900 and vary from poor to fair condition. The titles include, "Goethe: The History of a Man," by Emil Ludwig; "A Peculiar Treasurer," by Edna Ferber; and "Queen Elizabeth," by Katharine Anthony.
These books are available to the public. Interested individuals should come to the library and have a look. The books will be available until Oct. 15.
Donations are appreciated to help purchase new books to replace those discarded.
People waiting in the library basement Saturday to attend the "Sound of Music" Peabody historical music tour, can peruse the discarded books. A board member will be available to conduct a survey and receive feedback on improving the library.
Library hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Anyone with suggestions, requests, or advice to make Peabody Township Library better should bring them along that evening or write them down and drop them off at the library anytime in the book slot.
The library would like the input of patrons to help make the facility one that meets the needs of everyone in the community.
