Officers elected at Peabody Senior Center

Officers for the coming year recently were elected at the Peabody Senior Center. Robert Morgan was elected president, Judy Mellott, vice president, Sally Matz, secretary, and Lucy Janzen, treasurer.

Those elected began their term on Oct. 1.

Seniors are busy making peppernuts to raise funds for the center. Volunteers gather after lunch each Monday and Thursday to cut and bake the peppernuts. Volunteer help is always welcome on peppernut days.

The monthly covered dish luncheon Oct. 16 was attended by 28 people. Kristen Hooper, Peabody Main Street director, and Ken Parry, Peabody-Burns Elementary School principal were guest speakers.

The monthly event is held the third Tuesday of each month.

Emily Bowlin brought her second grade class to entertain with a Halloween group reading. Rita Voth, PBES counselor, also was present. Special guests were from Legacy Park.

November events include the final weeks of baking peppernuts, county board meeting to be held in Peabody, monthly covered dish luncheon, and November birthday party. Kristen Hooper will be the guest speaker at the covered dish meal.

The Peabody Senior Citizens would like to encourage all Peabody seniors to join them for lunch Monday through Friday. Volunteers to assist with serving lunch and delivering meals are much in demand.
