Numerous accidents reported by Hillsboro PD
At 7:45 a.m. Nov. 21, a 1992 Dodge passenger car driven by Kyle Wayne Kroeker, 18, 308 N. Madison, Hillsboro, was turning east on A Street from Jefferson Street when a bicycle struck the passenger side of the vehicle.
Atheana M. Vance, 11, 307 South Washington Street, was riding the bicycle at the time of the collision and was taken by private vehicle to Hillsboro Community Medical Center for treatment, reported Hillsboro Assistant Chief of Police Jessey Hiebert.
At 9:50 a.m. Nov. 21, Kenneth B. Carlson, 52, 413 North Ash Street, Hillsboro, backed a 2002 utility truck, registered to the City of Hillsboro, and struck a legally parked vehicle in an alley in the 100 block of North Main Street. The second vehicle was registered to Affiliated Foods, Inc., Norfolk, Neb.
Damage estimates were less than $1,000, reported Assistant Chief Hiebert.
At 12:35 p.m. Nov. 21, a 1995 Acura passenger car was started by remote control while the car was in gear. It drove over a curb and struck a garage door at 201 S. Washington Street.
The vehicle was owned by Jason P. Backhus, 3073 Nighthawk, Tampa. The garage door belonged to Donna Bagley, 201 S. Washington Street, reported Assistant Chief Hiebert.
A parked car was struck by an unknown vehicle between 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Nov. 26, on Washington Street near E Street.
Janine Hageberg, 605 East A Street, Hillsboro, reported the incident occurred while her 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier was parked on the west side of Washington Street.
Damages were listed as more than $1,000 by Officer David Funk.
At 8:15 p.m. Nov. 28, two cars collided at Main and D streets. Hannah E. Marsh, 17, 606 150th Road, Hillsboro, was westbound on D Street in a 1996 Dodge passenger car when it was struck by a 1992 Chevrolet pickup driven by Lee M. Sorensen, 708 Lawrence, Durham, that was southbound on Main Street.
According to Assistant Chief Hiebert, the pickup was driving too fast for road conditions, slid on ice, and struck the car. There were no injuries.
Damages were reported as more than $1,000.
