Northwest of Durham: Richard and Kathy Dirks welcome granddaughter

Congratulations to Richard and Kathy Dirks on the arrival of a granddaughter. McKenna Opal Marie was born to Heath and Mindy Buster at 5:12 p.m. Oct. 7, in Aurora, Colo. She weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.
Calvin and Janene Wiebe enjoyed having Wayne and Loralee Wiebe and family and Troy and Marla Wiebe and family as their Sunday dinner guests.
Going to the home of Doug and Starla Koehn near Lehigh for Sunday dinner were Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Melvin and Vera Dirks, and Stuart and Lea Isaac and Kyle, and Ken and Shelly Giesbrecht and family.
Lola Redger picked up Verla Redger Sunday and they went to Newton and met Lisa Redger and Ray Redger, Kyle and Tressa and all went out for dinner. This was to celebrate Lola's birthday, which was the 16th. Later they went to Ray's home for visiting and birthday cake that Lisa had made for her mother.
Clayton and Betty Wiebe had Bruce and Cheryl Dirks and Heath, Richard and Charlotte Wiebe and boys, and Charlotte's mother, Mary Friesen of Wisconsin, as their Sunday guests.
Mike and Mich Rhodes and family of Arkansas arrived Oct. 7 to spend time visiting family and friends. On Oct. 11 the Harry Rhodes family went out to eat and help their parents celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary. Mike and Mich returned home Oct. 12.
Ken and Sandy Wiebe had Terry and Barb Hiebert and family and Harlan and Sheri Koehn and Mark as their Sunday dinner guests.
Lola Redger and Verla Redger went Monday to Salina in honor of Verla's birthday, which is Oct. 18.
Scott and Tami Koehn's Sunday dinner guests were Harry and Sheryle Rhodes, Roy and Nadine Davis, Rhonda and Eileen, and Duane and Louise Ratzlaff and Rayletta.
Newt and Maria Jantz of California arrived Oct. 13 to spend time at the home of their parents Wendell and Linda Wedel and other family. They were all dinner guests Sunday of Greg and Charlene Wiebe. That evening they went to the home of Travis and Connie Becker for refreshments and visiting.

Many residents attended the fund-raiser hamburger fry for Durham Fire Department Saturday evening at the park. It was sponsored by Durham Park and Moore Townships.
Ruston and Lydia Dirks invited Wendell and Linda Wedel, Roy and Nadine Davis, Rhonda and Eileen, Carol Unruh, and teachers to be their Sunday dinner guests.
Ransom and Lillian Wiebe visited Wednesday with Alice Unruh, Helen Wiebe, and others at Moundridge Manor. They also visited Harry Wedel at the Salina hospital. We're glad to report Harry was able to come home Saturday.
Merlin and Karletta Wiebe and family and Stuart and Lea Isaac and family were Friday supper guests of Marlin and Darla Wedel near McPherson.
The youth of Morning Star and Alexanderfeld churches and sponsors, Marcel and Wendy Unruh, Clayton and Betty Wiebe, and Stuart Isaac had a hayrack ride and supper Thursday evening at the Terry Hiebert farm. Later sitting around the campfire they had a poem fest where most everyone recited a poem.
Ron and Dora Unruh attended the Unruh reunion Sunday at Water's Edge at Schowalter Villa Complex.
Having Sunday dinner at the Clayton Wiebe home were Dale and Kathy Jantz and Ruthann, Harlan and Sheri Koehn and Mark, Harry and Sheryle Rhodes, Calvin and Jenene Wiebe and family, and Lydia Strunk of Versailles, Mo.
Those attending funeral services Thursday of Della Koehn, 91, mother of Harlan Koehn were Clayton and Betty Wiebe and Ransom and Lillian Wiebe. That afternoon Ransom and Lillian went to memorial services for Martin Yost, 79, at Galva Christian Church.
Priscilla Unruh brought her father, Leland Kaiser to visit with Marvella Unruh. They then went to visit Elma David.
Lillian Wiebe went to see her sister, Alice Unruh Saturday afternoon at the Manor in Moundridge. On Sunday afternoon Ransom and Lillian went to visit Melvin and Vera Dirks at Hillsboro.
Larry and Wanda Koehn invited Bruce and Cheryl Dirk, Heath and Bethany, Jeff and Monica Ratzlaff, and the teachers to be their Sunday dinner guests.
