Northwest of Durham: Katelin Unruh awarded at FFA banquet

The FFA banquet Saturday evening at Hillsboro was attended by Ron and Dora Unruh, Mark, Barb, Katelin, and Sarah Unruh, and Warren, Anita, and Nathan Unruh. This year Katelin was president of the organization and received many awards for her participation in agriculture and farming.

The area has experienced beautiful spring weather and very beneficial rain this past weekend. Some had one and one-half to more than two inches. The planted corn and wheat which headed early, growing alfalfa, and pastures greatly benefited.

Many attended the Saturday afternoon graveside service for Elmer Decker at Peace Valley Cemetery. A memorial service was held at Hesston Mennonite Brethren Church. We extend our sympathy to his family.

Harry and Lela Wedel flew April 22 to Livingston, Calif., for the Monday memorial service of Lela's brother, Jonah Jantz. They returned April 25.

Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Ken, Shelly, and Taylor Giesbrecht, Mitch, Carol, and Deryk Unruh, Dale Jantz, and Darrel, Donita, and Tyson Rhodes were Sunday dinner guests of Tim and Shelia Koehn.

Women of Morning Star Church met Wednesday evening at the school. They had a short program, revealed heart sisters, and enjoyed refreshments.

Duane and Louise Ratzlaff, Richard and Charlotte Wiebe, and Tim, Shelia, and Deryk Koehn were Sunday supper guests of Rick and LaVae Koehn.

John and Shirley Ediger, Randy, Janie, Jessica, Tyler, Seth, and Ethan Ediger, Marissa Bebber, Ashley Schroeder, Abby Nisley, Kay Schmidt, Russ, Lisa, Katelyn, Stephanie, and Baylie Ediger and friend Lindsey, all of Inman, Jim and Brenda Enns, Lon, Deb, and Matthew Hiebert, Mark, Barb, Katelin, and Sarah Unruh, and Warren, Anita, Nathan, Kyle, and Jenna Unruh were Sunday dinner guests at the Ron Unruh home.

Harry and Lela Wedel, Merlin and Karletta Wiebe and family, Teresa Wiebe, Beth Troyer, and Beth's grandparents, the Abe Troyers of Ohio, were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Ken and Sandy Wiebe.

Ransom and Lillian Wiebe went Sunday evening to visit residents at Moundridge Manor.

Ron and Dora Unruh attended the Tuesday evening musical program at Hillsboro school. Grandson Nathan is a member of the fifth grade class that presented the program. The Warren Unruh family also attended.
