Northwest of Durham: Dirks visit Unruhs in Florida

Bruce and Cheryl Dirks flew to Sarasota, Fla., for a week while Bruce conducted meetings at Arcadia. They were houseguests of Harold and LaDean Unruh. They attended a Haitian benefit auction where many quilts were sold, including one for $2,000.
A benefit meal prepared by the youth and a song service will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Morning Star Church. Free will donations will be accepted with proceeds going to Humanitarian Aid and Youth projects. The community is invited and reservations are appreciated.
The community extends sympathy to the family of Alice Unruh. She was a resident of the community many years. She is the sister of Lillian Wiebe and Gary Unruh. Alice was 72, a resident of Moundridge Manor, and died Thursday. Funeral services were held Sunday at Morning Star Church. The Ransom Wiebe family were hosts to friends and relatives for supper.
Clayton and Betty Wiebe attended a German supper Thursday at Moundridge Manor.
Rhonda Davis, Katie and Susie Unruh, and Denise Koehn went Thursday through Monday to Rochester, Minn. They visited Eileen Davis who is a volunteer in at the Mayo Clinic.
Wendell and Linda Wedel, Warren and Jane Unruh, Marcel and Wendy Unruh and Joel, and Terry and Barb Hiebert and family were guests Sunday of Duane and Louise Ratzlaff.
The school board, students, and parents of the first, second, and third graders of Cottonwood Grove School had a basket supper Sunday. The event welcomed new teacher Marci Salisbury of Montezuma. She will replace Kristi Koehn who has returned home to California, due to the recent death of her mother, Jayne Koehn.
