Northwest of Durham: Couples celebrate 50th anniversary years ago

Palmer and Lucille Base celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday. Their daughter, Pam and Merle Hartman, spent the day with them and brought a cake. They all enjoyed dinner at Salina and visited with Conrad and Kathryn Hartman at Hope. Ruth Thayer and Paula brought a cake Friday and visited.
Ron and Dora Unruh attended the 50th wedding anniversary open house and "faspa" Sunday for Dora's cousin, Richard and Lorita Regier. The celebration was held at Eden Mennonite Church near Moundridge.
The area received a much needed rain the weekend of March 19 and some snow on Thursday. Rainfall varied from 1.40 to 2 inches. It is amazing how everything looks bright and green.
Larry and Wanda Koehn hosted a Saturday evening birthday supper for Titus' teacher, Monica Goossen. Guests included the Terry Hiebert family, the Mark Wiebe family, the Quinton Unruh family, and teachers, Beth Troyer and Marci Salsbury.
Roy and Nadine Davis and Rhonda, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Koehn of Burns, Margie Jantz, and Lena Koehn were Saturday supper guests of Rick and LaVae Koehn.
Melvin and Vera Dirks, Clayton and Betty Wiebe, Richard and Charlotte Wiebe and boys, Henry Redger, and Irvin Isaac were Sunday dinner guests of the Terry Hieberts.
John and Ethel Steiner and Randall, Dale and Kathy Jantz and Ruthann, and Troy and Marla Wiebe and family enjoyed Sunday dinner at the home of Bruce and Cheryl Dirks.
The Travis Koehn family, the Tim Koehn family, Dalton and Lorna Wiebe, and Carol Unruh were Sunday dinner guests of Larry and Wanda Koehn. They celebrated the birthdays of Travis and Dalton.
Roy and Nadine Davis and Rhonda, Duane and Louise Ratzlaff, Ken and Shelly Giesbrecht and Taylor were Sunday dinner guests of Doug and Starla Koehn near Lehigh.
Wendell and Linda Wedel went to Moundridge Manor for a dinner visit with Amanda Wedel.
Vicki, Treva, Tyler, and Dillon were weekend guests of Gene and Jaraine Redger. Vicki, Jeff, Summer, and Jamie Brockman bowled Sunday in a Salina tournament. Gene, Jaraine, Jed, and Rick watched the tournament. Jamie bowled 300 three times during the tournament. Quite an accomplishment with two of the 300s back to back.
