Hillsboro City Council met Friday with aquatic center director, Jodi Stutzman, who presented policies and job descriptions.
The policies clarify the process of admitting patrons and groups to the aquatic center, and the process of staffing and implementing programs and special events.
The admittance policy stipulates everyone who enters the facility must pay an admission fee. The policy allows for group discounts, flat fees for the school district, and rain checks in the event of inclement weather. The options of admission will include single day passes or discount packages of 10 admissions.
Season passes no longer are available.
No admission fee has been determined.
The policy on staffing and programs sets wages for instructors as well as rules for swim team and pool parties.
Council also approved a contract for $9,900 with Terracon for the boring of one hole per acre on the sewer lagoon site. The geo-technical survey is a state requirement, said city administrator Steve Garrett. Work will begin in the next few weeks.
In other business:
— Garrett said Hillsboro Community Medical Center is planning an open house.
— City council will meet in February with Hillsboro Golf Association.
— The city will switch to a new utility bill, which will be folded and inserted into an envelope. This will allow more information and second pages to be sent to consumers.
— Mayor Delores Dalke said she met with the planning commission and two items regarding zoning will be brought before the council.
Commission discussed rezoning of land at Ash and Third streets. It currently is zoned as heavy industrial. The commission seeks to rezone that area for limited commercial use.
The second zoning issue was a recommendation that the highway commercial area be zoned to allow liquor stores.
"We're not approving liquor stores to be in Hillsboro," said Dalke," just regulating where they can be."
The next regularly scheduled city council meeting will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the city building.
