New idea for garden takes root

By KAREN BENBROOK and ANN SLOCOMBE

Contributing writers

Peabody is on the National Register of Historic Places because the community came from roots of significant heritage and architecture. Our citizens care about keeping alive their town's roots for the younger generations, while sharing with those who live in Peabody.

The Morgan House is a home from Peabody's past that plays host to touring, relaxing, reading, visiting, and bird watching.

Interest in the garden's recent renovation gave some people like Marilyn Jones and Pat Jury an opportunity to be involved. Each woman gave several perennials from their own gardens to be transplanted into Mrs. Morgan's garden.

In addition, their generosity took root and bloomed into an idea.

There is a need for more perennials so the garden will be self-sustaining with continuous blooming flowers. If you may have a favorite perennial that you would like to see "take root" in Mrs. Morgan's garden, please contact us and we will even dig up the flower you want to give. We want the garden to be like Peabody — flourishing for years to come.
