National Geographic photos to be displayed at Marion City Library
Jim Richardson's images of the Flint Hills, featured in National Geographic magazine, will be on display in Marion County at the historic Marion City Library.
Located in a restored Santa Fe Depot, the library is just south of downtown on 101 Library Street. The exhibit will be on display from Monday through July 1 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
A special reception celebrating the exhibit will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, with refreshments and live music.
The more than 30 photos in the exhibit were published in the April 2007 issue of National Geographic, which heralded the Flint Hills as among the world's most breathtaking natural treasures.
Richardson of Lindsborg, worked on the story for almost a year, documenting the subtleties of the landscape from the air, at night, during thunderstorms, within millimeters of tiny prairie flowers, and more.
The traveling exhibit is sponsored by the Travel & Tourism Division of Kansas Department of Commerce.
