Music celebrated in Peabody schools
Music In Our Schools Month is being observed during March in Peabody-Burns schools.
This year's theme is "Connect with Music."
Several events have been scheduled:
Tuesday, junior high musicians will go to Berean Academy, Elbing, for the Heart Of American League Music Festival.
The concert band will perform, as well as many ensembles and solos.
The fifth and sixth grade bands will present a short concert at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the PES gym.
Thursday will be the junior high solo and ensemble recital presented by students from the HOAL festival and those who will be performing at another music festival in April.
The faculty-staff recital will be March 23 at Peabody United Methodist Church. It will feature faculty, staff, parents, board of education members, and district substitutes.
On March 27 a MIOS Month concert will be presented at the Brown Building concert hall.
It will feature the PBJH Choir, PBHS Choir, "Voices," PBJH Concert Band, PBHS Concert Band, and the PBHS Stage Band.
The regional solo and small ensemble festival will be held March 29 at Tabor College, Hillsboro.
The public is invited to attend any or all events to support local music students.
