Moundridge wins over Warriors
Staff writer
Peabody-Burns Warriors tipped off Friday against another league opponent, the Moundridge Wildcats and the Warriors were defeated by a score of 81 to 69.
The Warriors jumped out to an early lead and held their own throughout the quarter. A late trey by the Wildcats put the Warriors behind by one 13-12, at the end of the first period.
Caleb Good, Nick Conquest, Brennan Commerford, and Chris Hamm all added to the Warrior score.
The second quarter was evenly matched with offense and defense. However, the Warriors had some foul trouble and were behind, 35-33, at the half.
In the second half, the Warrior big men had considerable trouble under the basket, picking up fouls that made for bench time.
While the Warriors pulled to within three in the third quarter, the deficit was six to end the period 51 to 45. The offense only generated 12 points, half of which were earned at the free throw stripe.
The Warriors had a very physical fourth quarter. Fouls were traded by both teams, but the Warrior big men, Brennan Commerford and Adam Jones fouled out.
Point production was up for the Warriors, but the rough fourth quarter was too much for the home team. The Warriors were defeated by Moundridge, 81-69. Caleb Good and Nick Conquest both had seven in the quarter.
The PBHS squad was at Central Christian Tuesday and faces Inman in Friday's homecoming game.
