Mother and son have books published

Having a book published was a double accomplishment in Jenny and Zac Wiebe's family recently.

Zac, a fifth grader at Berean Academy, participated with classmates in Annabeth Birky's class in the "Studentreasures Publishing Company" writing contest.

Each student wrote and illustrated a book to be published. Zac's book was entitled, "The Midnight Battle."

Jenny Wiebe, Zac's mother, had her first book published by Publish America this year. The work of fiction, called "Amanda's Secret," is a novel about a college student struggling with classes and family relationships.

Jenny started writing the manuscript in January 2001 and finished a month later. "The initial writing didn't take long, but after the manuscript was accepted, I spent many hours reading, rereading, and editing," she said. Writing the book was a journey of faith for her, she added.

Wiebe says she is not planning a sequel but does have two more books on which she is working and hopes to have published in the future.

Zac has not announced his plans for future literary endeavors.
