Moran accepts intern applications for summer
Congressman Jerry Moran recently announced he is accepting applications for congressional internships for the summer 2006 term in his offices in Washington, D.C., Hays, Hutchinson, and Salina.
"My own interest in public service was sparked by an internship for First District Congressman Keith Sebelius in 1974," Moran said. "As an intern, I was able to see firsthand how a congressional office operates and how the legislative process works. These same opportunities are available to Kansans that intern in my congressional office."
The goal of the internship is to give young adults the opportunity to participate in public service. Applications are due by March 17.
Intern responsibilities include assisting Moran and his staff with legislative and administrative projects. Internships generally are flexible but run in two sessions — the first from mid-May to June 30, the second from July 5 to mid-August.
Students should submit a completed application form, cover letter, resume, college transcript, and three letters of reference. The cover letter should explain an interest in public service and goals to achieve by participating.
Application forms can be obtained online at www.house.gov/moranks01/internweb.htm.
In order to assure timely receipt of applications, students are encouraged to fax their applications to (202) 225-5125. If unable to fax, mail to Moran's Hutchinson office, Attn. Intern Coordinator, PO Box 1128, Hutchinson KS 67504.
