Moffetts join tour of northwest vacation spots
Bob and Arlene Moffett were among 20 tourists who departed Wichita Aug. 12 for a nine-day tour through the northwest. It was arranged by Holiday Vacations and hosted by Larry Hatteberg of KAKE-TV.
The tour started with a two-day stay in Salt Lake City, Utah, that included visiting Mormon Temple Square, attending a performance by Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and a side trip to Bingham Copper Mine.
Two days were spent at Sun Valley Resort in Idaho sightseeing and shopping.
In Snake River Valley the group viewed Shoshone Falls and later drove through Sawtooth National Recreation area.
En route to Yellowstone National Park they visited Craters of the Moon, known for its rugged lava landscape. Highlights of Yellowstone were the stunning views of Upper and Lower Yellowstone Falls and the canyon.
At Old Faithful it was cloudy and very cool. The geyser gave a very low blow. Earlier that morning it had blown more than 150 feet high.
They drove through the Grand Tetons on their way to Jackson, Wyo., for a two-day stay. Jackson Hole has become a fun tourist spot.
They then returned to Salt Lake City for a farewell dinner and the flight back home.
