Missouri man dies in head-on collision

A two-vehicle fatality accident occurred at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday three-fourth mile east of Peabody on U.S.-50.

The Marion County Sheriff's office investigated. According to Undersheriff Randal Brazil, Daniel Holdener, 52, from Independence, Mo., was killed when he crossed the centerline in his westbound 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck and struck an eastbound semi-tractor/trailer.

The driver of the semi, James Jacobson, 49, of Fredonia, was taken by LifeTeam helicopter to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Emergency units from Peabody Fire Department, Peabody ambulance, Marion Rescue, and Peabody Police Department responded to the scene.

U.S. 50 was closed for several hours from I-35 at Newton to U.S.-77 at Florence. Traffic was restored to one lane by 10 a.m. Kansas Department of Transportation personnel were on hand to direct traffic.
