Milton: Salt Lake City trip proves memorable

Bruce Sayers, Megan and Jessica, and Lawrence and Lois Sayers attended the Indian Peace Treaty Pageant at Medicine Lodge Saturday. They reported it was enjoyable.
Ronnie and Pattie Gaines and Dusty Gaines met Ty and Kim Gaines Friday evening in Emporia for dinner and then had family photos taken. Dusty was a Sunday dinner guest of his parents, Ronnie and Patti.
Kay and Wes Hall of Las Cruces, N.M., arrived at the Plummer home Sept. 17 and were guests through Sept. 23. Kay is Al Plummer's sister. They all attended a Plummer reunion in Wichita and a Zinc family reunion in Emporia.
Marvin and Sherol Nightengale went to McPherson Thursday to watch their grandson Roger Nightengale run cross country. They called on Ike and Marie Clark on Monday. Tuesday, they visited Bill and Marie Clark in El Dorado. They attended the birthday open house Sunday for Alice Wilber at the Burns Community Building before calling on Don and Twylah Nightengale in Florence.
Greg and Zeola Langenegger, Mary Lengenegger, and Joyce Kyle left early Sept. 18 from Newton on Amtrak and traveled to Salt Lake City. They rented a car and toured the Mormon Tabernacle, Assembly Hall and Visitor's Center, all located in Temple Square. They also visited Yellowstone, toured the Old Faithful Inn, and watched "Old Faithful" erupt. The group then visited Custer's battlefield near Devil's Tower, saw Mount Rushmore, and Crazy Horse Mountain. During the trip they saw buffalo, elk, deer, antelope, and mountain goats. One awesome experience included driving up a mountain through a cloud. The four boarded the train at Albuquerque and arrived home early Thursday morning.
Greg Langenegger and Joyce Kyle were Sunday dinner guests of Mary Langenegger and her houseguest and classmate Marjorie Olinger Riley of Independence.
Birthdays were celebrated Monday evening at the home of Nathan and Ella Koehn. Those attending were Renford and Wanda Koehn, Lonnie, Dalen, and Carolee, and Roland and Kim Koehn, Doug, Kyla, and Diana. Lonnie, Doug, and Roland are the September birthday boys.
Vernon, Florine, and Judy Koehn spent the weekend of Sept. 20-21 in Mountain Grove, Mo.
Kale and Donna Schneider of Walnut Hill, Fla., were guests of their daughter and family, Ron and Cynthia Koehn and family.
Lois Sayers called on Joyce Kyle Sunday evening.
