Eight days is a long time without electricity. Without the help of neighbors, friends, and family I'm afraid I couldn't have stayed home.
A group of men from Eden Church came Saturday and moved all the big limbs, a friend from Emporia came and moved some limbs and brought water.
A neighbor brought me water the last two days and hooked up a generator for a few hours. He also repaired broken pipes in the pump house.
A neighbor brought me a survival kit composed of a package of licorice. My brother and his wife came and took me to Burns Café for lunch and said I needed to get out after eight days. That afternoon I finally got electricity.
I felt so sorry for the workers. I'm sure they worked as fast as they could. I had a lot of telephone calls inquiring if I needed anything. All this help was greatly appreciated and such a blessing.
Ronnie and Patti Gaines met Dusty Gaines of Newton and Kim and Ty Gaines of Madison Sunday in El Dorado and had dinner together.
Marvin and Sherol Nightengale had their post-Christmas dinner Jan. 9 at the home of Brad and Diane Nightengale in El Dorado. Attending were Jim and Linda Hess, Allie and Amelia of Kearney, Mo., Mitch Foote and Kristen and Brandon Wilds of Manhattan, Marvin and Sherol and the hosts, Brad, Diane, Roger, Laura, and Casey.
Marvin and Sherol attended Roger and Laura's ball games Friday evening in El Dorado.
Al and Bonnie Plummer called on Jeremy and Hayley Bidwell, Austin, Draven, and Aiden Sunday afternoon in El Dorado.
Friday supper guests of Kevin and Jan Jantz, Kaylee, Shauna, and Jesse were Luana Isaac, Rose Forgy, Melissa and Ryan, and Danny and June Huls and Jennifer. They celebrated Ryan and Luana's birthdays.
