A bountiful potluck dinner was enjoyed Tuesday by the Burns senior citizens as part of their August meeting.

Those in attendance were Lou Anderson, Diane Nelson, Wanda and Jim Van Tuyl, Lee and Evelyn Sidener, Albert Gustainis, Irene Elisha, LaVonne Ammeter, Esther Nelson, Beverly Morgan, Doni Rogers, Fritz Brening, Minamae Bierman, Kathleen Brenzikofer, Gene Obee, Don and Laverna Parrish, Colleen Bruner, Cindy Jackson, Joyce Kyle, and Charlie and Jennifer Brenzikofer of Carbondale, Colo.

"Happy Birthday" was sung to Don Parrish and "Happy Anniversary" to Esther Nelson.

After the dinner, president Kathleen Brenzikofer conducted the business meeting. She then read "Prettier than Freckles."

Entries to the county fair were announced. Minamae Bierman received the reserve champion honor on her Barjello quilt. Congratulations to Minamae! She also got a blue ribbon on a knitted cap and scarf.

Esther Nelson received a blue on an afghan, coasters, and a doily. Marie Clark earned a blue on a baby afghan and red on a potholder and a wreath. Kathleen Brenzikofer earned blues on pillow cases, tea towels, and a small tablecloth. Joyce Kyle received a blue on tea towels and a red on a throw. We are proud of the work of all who entered!

Speaker for the meeting was unable to attend so the afternoon was spent reminiscing about games played in childhood at school and at home. Some mentioned were hopscotch, red rover, button, button, who's got the button, jacks, cops and robbers, spin the bottle, mumble peg, drop the hankie, musical chairs, rock, scissors, paper, and others.

Lee and Evelyn Sidener will be hosts in September. They ask that everyone bring a "white elephant" gift for a bingo prize.
