Millie Lowden

Mildred "Millie" Lowden, 85, Peabody, died May 4, 2003, at Legacy Park.

She was born July 24, 1917, at Oil Hill, the daughter of the late Fred and Irene (Phillips) McClellan.

A homemaker, she had worked as a store clerk and during World War II was riveter at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita.

She and Vernon Lowden were married March 22, 1951, at Benton, Ark. He survives at the home in Peabody.

A long time Girl Scout leader, she established the first Cadette and Senior programs in Peabody.

Other survivors include daughters Myrna Wood of Peabody and Barb Gomez of Leon; and four grandchildren.

Those who preceded her in death include her parents; her first husband, Wimer Albright; daughter Sonja Riddle; and sisters Nita Welch and Lucy Warner.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Pastor Jim Pohlman will be the officiating clergyman.

A memorial fund has been established with Peabody Girl Scout Neighborhood for camping equipment.
