McLeod wins first at Marion forensics meet

Peabody-Burns High School forensics team member Ruth McLeod received a first-place medal for serious solo acting Feb. 15 at the Marion Invitational Forensics Tournament.

Others placing in the tournament included Melissa Hiebert, ninth, serious solo acting; Charlie Rippe, ninth, humorous solo acting; Grant Buller, ninth, prose interpretation; Rippe/Hiebert, 10th, improvised duet acting; and Will Jaccard, 16th, prose interpretation.

Other teams in the competition included Goessel, Moundridge, Centre, Circle, Council Grove, Emporia, Hillsboro, Lebo, Northern Heights, and Remington.

Two competitors placed in the Feb. 19 at the Hillsboro Invitational Forensics Tournament. Seth Methvin was ninth in informative speaking and Shelby Elliott placed ninth in prose interpretation.

Other competitors included Will Jaccard, prose interpretation; Jessica Rosine and Methvin, improvised duet acting; Charlie Rippe, humorous solo acting; and Rippe and Seth Alstrom, improvised duet acting.

Other teams were Marion, Circle, Hesston, Salina Central, Sacred Heart, Halstead, Sterling, Berean Academy, Abilene, Chapman, Haven-Buhler, and Goessel.

Seth Methvin placed sixth in informative speaking Feb. 10 at the Council Grove Invitational.

Other PBHS participants were Felecia Pohlman, prose interpretation; Shelby Elliott and Methvin, improvised duet acting; Jarred Weems, poetry interpretation; and Ruth McLeod, serious solo acting.

Other teams were from Rossville, Chapman, Silver Lake, Marion, Mission Valley, Rock Creek, Eureka, White City, Osage City, Clay Center, Madison, Centre, Marais De Cynes, Wabaunsee, Hartford, Olpe, Santa Fe Trail, Pomona, and Chase County.
