McLeod family to host exchange student

The Nancy McLeod family of Peabody will host a student from Mexico during the upcoming school year, thanks to the assistance of local SHARE! coordinator Doris Unruh.

The McLeods will host Nelyda Ramirez Robles from Tepic Nayarit, Mexico. Nelyda will arrive in August and attend Peabody-Burns High School.

"Many people, especially today, are left feeling there is nothing we can do to help with peace in this world. But there is. Now, more than ever, people need to promote world peace and understanding, and I don't know of a better way, than to bring students from other counties into our communities," said Mari Karlsson, central states director for the SHARE! Program.

The SHARE! Program has several exchange students needing host families for the upcoming school year. Students become family members and actively participate with their host family.

Students are 15 to 18 years old, speak English, have their own spending money, and medical insurance. Host families provide a home away from home. SHARE! Program is sponsored by Educational Research Development Trust (ERDT).

Families interested in hosting a student or wishing to obtain more information may call Doris Unruh at (620) 983-2844, the ERDT/SHARE regional officer at 1-800-715-3738, or visit the website at www.erdtcentral.org.
