McCarty joins WWII reunion group

The 321st Signal Wing Company of World War II had a reunion Sept. 4 to 8 in Covington, Ky., and among those in attendance was Mrs. Byron (Estelle) McCarty of Florence.

The group enjoyed several days of touring and reminiscing together.

All went for lunch Friday at a German restaurant, Hofbrauhas in Newport, Ky. They enjoyed a live polka band and the singer serenaded one of the couples in the group. Later, most of the group visited the Newport Aquarium.

They had dinner Saturday at the Syndicate, a spot with a historic past. It once was the place for gangsters and gambling, but now is a fine dining place.

The group took a two-hour river cruise Sunday along the Ohio River. Included was a buffet lunch while cruising on the river. Guests were able to see Ohio from one side of the ship and Kentucky from the other.

In addition to the tours and sightseeing, lots of visiting and catching up was accomplished.

Those attending were from Washington, California, New York Florida, Missouri, Michigan, Kansas, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Minnesota.
