Mary Goodwin
Mary Leona (Parks) Goodwin, 84, Cedar Point, died Feb. 19, 2003, at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.
Born Oct. 17, 1918, at Newton, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Linnie Alice (Lowman) Parks.
She attended school in Chase and Pawnee counties, including grade school at Cedar Point.
She married Orval L. Goodwin June 4, 1934. They lived in Chase in Rice County, moved to Great Bend in 1948, and retired to Cedar Point in 1979.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Billy Lee Goodwin who died in 1994.
Survivors include her husband, Orval; sister, Opal Frederick of Hutchinson; daughter, Beverly Reynolds of Cedar Point; son, J.D. Goodwin of Hampton, Va.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was a family historian who shared information with relatives. She also enjoyed reading and growing plants, especially irises.
Graveside services were held Monday morning at Cedar Point Cemetery with Pastor Harold Brown officiating.
A memorial fund has been established in her name with Florence Ambulance Service.
