Mary Brown resigns as high school principal

Peabody-Burns board of education met Monday in the central office for a special meeting. The board waived written notice of the meeting.

Bill Spangler immediately moved to accept the resignation of Peabody-Burns High School principal Mary Brown. The resignation is effective at the end of the 2006-07 school year. The motion was seconded and carried 6-0. Member Rhonda Loucks was absent.

The action was immediately followed by the board's entry into an executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel. Superintendent Tom Alstrom was included in the session and minutes reflect that board members reserved the right to contact by telephone incoming superintendent Rex Watson.

Board of education members remained closeted for 30 minutes. Watson did join them by phone 20 minutes into the session.

On return to open meeting the board took no action. The meeting was immediately adjourned.

No reason was given for Brown's resignation.
