Marion Senior Center to replace doors

Marion Senior Center at 309 S. Third Street will be getting some new front doors.

Senior Citizens of Marion County, Inc. approved the expenditure during a meeting May 20 at Ramona Senior Center.

The double doors at the Marion center were installed in 1982 or 1983. Water runs in the doors after a heavy rain resulting in damage to carpeting.

During winter months, the doors would not lock due to ice and snow.

A bid of $1,894 from House of Glass, Inc. of Newton was approved by the board. House of Glass had serviced the doors and recommended they be replaced.

Of the proposed amount, $900 of the bill will be paid from Marion Senior Center and $994 will be paid by the organization through the mill levy.
