Marie Stahl
M. Marie Stahl, 88, died June 19, 2005, at Presbyterian Manor, Newton.
Born June 30, 1916, in Marion County, she was the daughter of Robert and Nellie (Phillips) Whitford.
On Aug. 8, 1936, she married August Stahl at Cottonwood Falls. The couple farmed in the Homestead community of the Flint Hills in Chase County for more than 30 years.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Newton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, three sisters, and an infant son.
Survivors include a daughter, Esther Teer of Newton; two sons, Donald Stahl of Cottonwood Falls and Dennis Stahl of Newton; sister, Cecil Swanson of Paola; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Andres officiating.
Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
Memorial funds have been established with Zion Lutheran Church, Presbyterian Manor, or Central Homecare and Hospice.
