Many, Fountain to perform in musical walk
Allison Many, Peabody-Burns vocal music instructor, and Injoy Fountain, a singer-actor-dancer from Wichita, are two of the talented people scheduled to perform Sept. 25 during the "Sound of Music" musical walk, sponsored by Peabody Historical Society.
Many will conclude the walk with a patriotic finale at Peabody Township Library.
Many recently moved to Peabody to begin her first teaching position. She will teach vocal music to students in grades four through 12.
She attended the University of Mississippi where she received a music degree. She loves to sing and has had "pretty intense voice studies since ninth grade," she said.
"When I was growing up I was big into piano, and that was what I thought was going to be my focus," Many said. "One day I auditioned for an all-state choir and I made it. So then I started singing, and it came very naturally."
Singing became her passion.
"I auditioned for a voice scholarship and I got one, and I thought 'this is what I enjoy doing,' I didn't realize there was so much that could be done with it," she said.
Many is looking forward to sharing her love of music with her students and the community.
Injoy Fountain is a multi-talented 15-year-old singer-actor-dancer who was a recent trophy winner at the MKE Beaty Talent Expo in Dallas. She was ranked in the top five percent of all categories entered.
Fountain will bring her gospel music performance to the Peabody Sound of Music.
She has many music theater credits, has performed in the Black Box Theatre, has television and video credits and dance performances, and was named athlete of the month at Wichita Collegiate School.
Fountain has studied with Karla Burns, one of Wichita's brightest talents, and has studied piano with Karen Wagner at the Fine Arts Academy. Yet, she still finds time to be a cheerleader and do gymnastics.
Fountain will be accompanied by Annette Weems. Her stage will be in the green grass area just south of Peabody market.
The annual fall walk will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 25. For more information, call Peabody City Hall at 620-983-2174 or Janet Hamous at 620-983-2438.
