Many compete in pinewood derby
A Pinewood Derby held Sunday during the Florence Labor Day celebration was the first for that event. Many contestants were on hand, in front of a good crowd, to vie for the number one spots.
Duane McCarty was master of ceremonies.
Results were as follows:
— 5-year-olds and under — Luke Wessell, first; Aaron Riggs, second; Cody Shipman, third.
— 6- to 10-year-olds — Cody Austin, first; Les Riggs, second; Jacob Cope, third.
— 11- to 15-year-olds — Alanna Carroll, first; Brittany Bailey, second; Clay Riggs, third.
— 16-year-olds and up: Greg Graham, first; Duane McCarty, second; Mike Carroll, third.
Best design was won by John Tacha and most unique by Brody Carroll. The youngest racer was Eli Riggs (13 months) and oldest was Tim Parmley (49).
