Make Kansas key political state again

Dear Editor:

You asked for opinions so I will give you mine. I hope the many political closed-minded persons of Kansas will think this over.

Our state at one time was on the leading edge of political life in this nation. National leaders listened to what Kansas had to say and many times acted on this advice. We were at the front of the parade, not bringing up the rear like we are today.

The current Presidential election has showed us just how much were are taken for granted by the major parties. One candidate has not even campaigned in our state. Kansas City, Mo., is not Kansas and does not count. As for the other, a few short stops and a train ride is really not much of a campaign.

It may be too late for this election, but not for the next. Let us make it a real horse race here in Kansas.

Open up the electoral college vote. This would send a wake-up call and give our voters a chance to hear and see all the candidates, not just the major ones. It has become evident the major parties are now self-serving, not working for the voters but for themselves.

It is about time other political parties have a place to get out their message.

In closing, it is very important that everyone go out Nov. 2 and cast his or her vote. Each vote counts, even if your candidate does not win Kansas, but maybe in four years he or she may receive some of it.
