"Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!" is the 2007 Kansas Downtown Symposium theme, to be held Oct. 10-12 at Hutchinson. The conference is presented by Kansas Main Street.
This event is full of useful information targeted to Main Street directors, downtown development professionals, city officials, county officials, economic development officials, KDDA partnership cities, and anyone invested in or interested in downtown revitalization or downtown business.
Several workshops are available and will be presented by Steve Siemens and Dan Carmody, professionals who have experience with economic growth and enhancement of downtown areas.
Steve Siemens, better known as "Mr. People Builder," is the founder and president of Siemens People Builders located in Des Moines, Iowa. The "Dream Works: Governor's Award of Excellence on Main Street" will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11 by Kansas Secretary of Commerce David Kerr. This will feature the "best of the best" in downtown revitalization efforts in Kansas during the past year. Celebrate the volunteers, the efforts and the achievements that provide sustainability, not only for our downtowns but for our communities as well.
Registration deadline is Sept. 21. Late registration will be accepted through Oct. 2.
The Kansas Main Street Symposium is sponsored by the Kansas Department of Commerce, Kansas Downtown Development Association, Downtown Hutchinson Revitalization Partnership, and the City of Hutchinson.
The Kansas Main Street program uses a common sense approach to tackle the complex issues of revitalizing a community's central business district, capitalizing on the downtown's history and identifying the resources of the community itself. The Kansas Main Street program is a self help program that uses the National Main Street Center's four-point approach; organization, promotion, economic restructuring, and design.
