Main Street plans for holiday activities

By JOANNA BRAZIL

Director, Peabody Main Street Association

With the holiday season rapidly approaching, the Peabody Main Street promotions committee will continue the longtime Peabody tradition of welcoming in the holidays with a parade, first lighting of the downtown, pictures with Santa, and the holiday shopping spree kick-off.

Events will begin at 5 p.m. Nov. 30 with a parade featuring a "Home for the Holidays" theme. Everyone is invited to participate with a float that ties into the theme.

The Christmas parade is an opportunity to showcase and promote organizations, businesses, classes, and individuals to Peabody friends and families. The Peabody-Burns High School and Junior High bands have signed up and will march in the parade.

Carolers are needed to sing downtown after the parade. Post-parade activities include pictures with Santa, caroling, treats, and even holiday shopping.

Anyone with a float entry should call Joanna Brazil at the city office, 983-2174, or e-mail pmsa@ peabodyks.com.

Extra help always is appreciated. Anyone who would like to assist with the parade and/or post-parade activities or make a financial contribution to the fireworks, lights, parade prizes, or pictures with Santa, should contact Brazil.
