Main Street helps make memories

By JOANNA BRAZIL

Peabody Main Street Director

While I have only been a resident of Peabody for two years, I have acquired my own warm memories of the holidays here. This weekend's parade is certainly the most recent.

The parade floats, Peabody-Burns junior high and high school bands, Santa making his appearance, fireworks, and the downtown lighting all took coordination, volunteers and money to make it all happen.

It was a good community event. I enjoyed a free cup of hot chocolate from the PBHS junior class and smiles from familiar faces lining Main Street.

I want to thank Peabody State Bank for providing Santa's candy and the Peabody-Burns Recreation Commission for providing prize money for parade floats.

I always enjoy fireworks and am grateful to the Peabody Fourth Fest Society, the lighting committee, Peabody City Council, and Peabody Main Street for making them possible.

I know the lighting committee puts forth a great deal of time and money to see that our beautiful downtown buildings are outlined in bright lights. The group deserves a big thank you for its efforts.

The best part about pleasant memories is creating them! It is fun to reminisce about the "good old days," but remember that today and tomorrow will be the "good old days" 10 years from now.

I wish you well this holiday season and hope your holiday memories yet to come are happy and bright.
