M. Phyllis Smith
M. Phyllis Smith, 80, Wichita, died May 25, 2008.
Born April 30, 1928, at Peabody, she was the daughter of Olen and Ella Reid.
She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1949, and worked as a registered nurse until 1982. At that time, she joined her husband and their partners in operating Golden Plains Lumber Company. They retired in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leo Reid.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Smith; children, Mike and Jo Ellen of Anchorage, Alaska, Greg and Sue of Clearwater, Shelly and Kevin Burrus, Kathy and Mike Burrus, and Cindy and Patrick Graf, all of Wichita, and Patrick and Natalie of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 22 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The rosary was recited Wednesday evening.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday morning at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Wichita.
Memorial funds have been established with A Better Choice, Harry Hynes Hospice, or Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School.
