Little River defeats Lady Warriors

Peabody-Burns High School girls' basketball team opened its first game of the season with a 69-20 loss to Little River.

Next up for the team is an early season tournament with home games Tuesday and Saturday, and a game Friday at Norwich.

First quarter offense was hurt by the defensive pressure of the Redskins. Kate Topham put up the only PBHS score. Little River led 21-2 at the end of one.

The Lady Warriors put up five in the second quarter. Jessi Hilliard had three and Kali Alstrom had a basket. The gap was 40-7 at the half.

Hilliard scored one in the third for the only Lady Warrior score. The team had a better fourth quarter, putting 12 on the scoreboard. Tiana McGee hit two jumpers. Hilliard added four. Traci Windsor and Alstrom each contributed two.

Those scoring were Hilliard 8, McGee 4, Alstrom 4, Windsor 2, and Topham 2. McGee and Alstrom led the team with four rebounds each.
