To the Editor:
The Peabody Community Foundation once again is offering grants for local groups or individuals who are interested in putting together a project that will enhance the Peabody community.
This past year PCF had several good applications for the grant and was able to select three winners: the HUB, Peabody Senior Center, and Peabody Swim Team.
Local charitable groups are encouraged to apply. The expected amount of the grant will be $300. Grant applications may be picked up from USD 398 central office, Peabody Market, and Peabody State Bank. Applications must be turned in to USD 398 central office is by Jan. 18.
The Peabody Community Fund has been growing slowly and this past year was the best of all. The fund has grown to more than $65,000 and continues to grow through earnings and donations.
Peabody Community Foundation again will host the "Ground Hog Day" pancake feed in February. The event is an annual fund-raiser for the foundation.
PCF was founded with the intent of promoting and enhancing the Peabody community.
The foundation was set up as a non-profit organization to provide a place for donors to give charitably to the community for the purpose of enhancing and maintaining the community. This vision is alive and growing and you can be a part of this through your support and contributions.
The foundation board of directors are Lynn Berns, Gene Schmill, Mary Avery, John Carroll, Gary Jones, Gilbert Loewen, Mark Whitney, Barry Peter, and Sharlene Brooks.
For more information about the foundation or the grant, please contact any of the board members.
