Ol' Owl's Nest returns
Dear Alumni:
Been a few years since the Ol' Owl has come out of his nest. Mrs. Owl and I are in good shape and still hitting on all cylinders.
We are still having fun with our antiques, greenhouse operations, and our sheep. We are in the middle of lambing so it's a busy time in the old sheep barn.
The FFA Alumni Association needs your best help. Peabody State Bank has offered a matching fund of $2,500 to help pay for a bunch of leadership activities like FFA camp, leadership conference, state contests, state FFA convention, and the national convention.
The bank board thought this would help more members than a straight scholarship. This would not be a total freebie for the members as they also would have to help out with their own expenses.
But, here is a chance for all of you former FFA members to help produce some future leaders. Remember how we used to preach to you all about leadership? So, let's show them we still care.
Make checks out to the FFA Alumni Association and mail them to me at 1556 E. 59th Street, Peabody 66866.
Your contribution is fully tax deductible. Let's hear from you!
Your former Ol' Owl,
Gary Jones
Help appreciated
To the Editor:
On behalf of the Peabody Main Street Association, I want to extend our gratitude to the Peabody Gazette-Bulletin for working with our organization on the Peabody Main Street quarterly newsletter.
This partnership has allowed for Peabody Main Street and local organizations, schools, businesses, and individuals to stay connected with Peabody alumni across the world. With each gift copy sent to alumni every quarter, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to treat Peabody grads with updates about our fine community and what we are busy doing.
We believe our recent Governor's Award of Excellence for our newsletter partnership was well deserved, and we were pleased with the state's recognition.
To the staff of the Peabody Gazette-Bulletin and Marion County Record, thank you. You are extremely helpful to our organization and our community.
