LETTERS: Taking advantage
To the Editor:
What does it say for a business to take advantage of a family's time of grief and suffering?
I recently came across this during my brother's hospitalization and resulting death. A bill, not accrued by my mother nor myself, held the one part of my brother that remained alive hostage. Out of desperation we were forced to turn to my brother's friends, who in turn had to pay half of the bill or the survivor would not be released.
Is this some new business tactic that I have not heard of? A business holds an old debt and makes the next customer pay it??
This unprofessional and terroristic dealing has made me think twice about small town business. I know personally that this one business will NEVER be patronized by my family again. I will drive to take care of my business.
Sincerely,
Susan Markham
