LETTERS: Peabody proud
To the Editor:
We would like to commend interim Peabody Main Street director Shane Marler, the Main Street board, volunteers, and sponsors of the Operation Celebration event held in Peabody as part of Memorial Day weekend.
We thought the entire event was a great success. Having been involved with organizing these type of events in the community over the years we could tell many hours of planning and effort went into making this one happen.
We especially enjoyed the exhibits featuring local people and their military service, the colorful flag exhibit and the Saturday evening dinner with its music and USO tour. Considering the price of gas, providing a quality event with entertainment locally couldn't come at a better time.
Between Operation Celebration, class reunions, the Avenue of Flags, the annual Memorial Day morning program at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, and the Memorial Day dinner at the high school there were plenty of activities for out of town visitors as well as residents. What a great way to put our communities best foot forward.
Congratulations on a job well done!
