LETTERS: Hula La La was a blast

To the Editor —

As we, the community, have just experienced our first Peabody Main Street Association block party, the "Hula La La," it seems appropriate to comment on the event. And here it is — what a blast!!

Overall the event was great and this community needs to applaud itself. Everyone who has ever organized (or co-organized as in this case) knows the amount of effort involved in these types of events and the people of Peabody heeded the call.

From "Let's have a block party" to turning out the last light, you came through.

I'm a firm believer in the theory that if everybody contributes a little, you can get a lot done. To those of you who obviously went above and beyond the call of duty, your remarkable contributions are appreciated.

Right now, I say, "Peabody, you are awesome!"

As the saying goes, every time you do something you learn something. Personally, I discovered new things about myself and about how to organize an event of this magnitude. Some of these will be discussed at our evaluation meeting this week. We invite the community to share ALL comments, ideas, or suggestions that might help with future events.

It was a nice party for celebrating community. All who helped and all who attended contributed to the celebration. It was a great party, let's do it again sometime!
